Czech Republic faces gigantic financial sanctions from the EU if it does not effectively intervene against segregation of children in the schools on an ethnic basis

The Czech Republic could face severe financial sanctions from the European Union if the worst-case scenario transpires. The European Commission has been pursuing proceedings against the country since 2014 over the state's continued failure to prevent the segregation of Roma children away from non-Roma children in education.
